Foundational Truths and Doctrine
The Foundational Truths and Doctrine of Cornerstone Ministries
See that what you have heard from
the beginning remains in you.
1 John 2:24
Cornerstone Ministries accepts the Scriptures as the revealed will of God, the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice, and, for the purpose of maintaining general unity, adopts these Statements of Foundational Truths and Doctrine:
- We believe in one God, Maker of all things, who exists in a triune Godhead, comprising three (3) separate and distinct personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are eternally self-existent, self-revealed, and function as one entity.
2 Corintians 13:14
- We believe that the son of God, Jesus Christ, became incarnate, was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is wholly God and wholly man. He died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven where He is now our High Priest and Advocate.
John 1:14
- We believe the Bible, in its entirety, to be the inspired Word of God and the only infallible rule of faith and conduct.
2 Timothy 3:16–17
- We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the eternal happiness of the saved, and the eternal punishment of the lost.
Matthew 25:31–46
- We believe in personal salvation of believers through the shed blood of Christ.
1 Peter 1:18–19
- We believe in sanctification by the blood of Christ, in personal holiness of heart and life, and in separation from a worldly lifestyle.
Romans 12:1–2
- We believe in divine healing through faith in Jesus Christ.
James 5:13–16
- We believe in the present supernatural ministry of the Holy Spirit, which is available to all believers. We believe in the multiplicity of spiritual gifts and their operation in the Church, as described in the Word of God. To be filled with the Holy Spirit is a command and a privilege for all Christians. It is by the work of the Holy Spirit that we are transformed into the image of Christ.
Romans 12
- We believe in water baptism as a sign to others of our identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. We affirm immersion as the best example of that identification.
Colossians 2:12
- We believe in the Christian’s hope—the imminent, personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 4:16
- We believe in world evangelism and missionary work in accordance with the Great Commission, with signs following, as described in the Word of God.
Mark 16:15–18
